Very nice industrial “Reform” table designed by Friso Kramer for Ahrend de Cirkel, The Netherlands 1955. The Reform series contained a lot of variety of tables in different sizes and editions to the client’s needs. This table has a rectangular shaped top, finished with dark grey linoleum and an aluminum edge. The base is made of metal in original light grey. The table can use up to 6-8 dining chairs. It has a very nice patina from several years of usage, this gives it a nice industrial look. This example is from March 1960, stamped at the bottom of the table top. A real nice catch for any modern home, office or interior.
The designs of Friso Kramer are highly sought after because of their progressive designs. Even though his items were designed several years ago, they still fit in the daily interiors. Friso Kramer was a functionalist, all of his pieces are well thought about and amazingly executed. Even though most of his designs were produced in large numbers the process before that was really intense and time taking. Friso Kramer is often compared to Jean Prouve, not without reason. This table won, like a lot of designs by Friso Kramer, a Signe d´Or for its functionalism and design in that period.
