Very nice pair of bookcases or shelving units designed by Friso Kramer for the Bijenkorf and manufactured by Asmeta, The Netherlands 1953. Martin Visser commissioned Friso Kramer to design a simple usable shelving unit for de Bijenkorf. These industrial modular bookcases were designed in the colors of De Bijenkorf in the 1950s. They have dark blue and yellow panels which can be adjusted in any wanted composition. One bookcase is in very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving an amazing patina. The second one is in good original condition and has some scratches and spots due usage. These rare shelving units could be also used as room dividers. They are very decorative and centre pieces for any modern home, office or interior.
