Fantastic and unique set of six dining chairs designed and manufactured by Bosteels Meubelen in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium 1960. These very nicely shaped chairs are made of beautifully grained solid walnut. They are sturdy and seat very comfortable. This remarkable set holds a strong expression and is superbly finished. Have a look at the nice details like the sculpted back, nicely grained seat and tapered legs with bolt feet. These high quality and well-crafted dining chairs are very unique, most probably custom made for the first owner. They are very well treated by the first owner and are therefore still in very good original condition with normal wear and tear due to age and use. An incredible catch for any modern home, office or interior.
The furniture store Bosteels was founded in 1889 by Arthur Bosteels, a baker's son from Tielrode. He learns the trade of furniture makers in Paris and Lyon. In the center of Sint-Niklaas, the business is continued until 2013 by his two grandsons. Bosteels mainly creates modern furniture at the request and size of the customer. At the 1958 World Expo, they help to set up the Vatican Pavilion. In addition, they also supply the bishop's throne of the Antwerp Cathedral and the choir stalls of Chevetogne Abbey.
